3 Must Read Biography Books On Jawaharlal Nehru
Jawaharlal Nehru, The man whom you can adore or revile; but you can’t ignore his omnipresence in India. The man who served as the prime minister of independent India, for almost two decades, democratically, is a feat in itself, isn’t it. In fact, reading about him is necessary for every Indian. Because, whether it’s the Indian freedom movement, post Indian independence and the Indian National Congress Party (INC), he was not only associated with each of them. But, he also gave his contributions towards them through thick and thin. That’s why ignoring him is not a good option while reading about the modern Indian history.

The books which I have mentioned above should be read in chronological order, especially those readers who haven’t read anything about Pandit Nehru. And those of you who have already read a little bit about the modern Indian history and Nehru’s part in it, can read the books in whatever order they want.
Nehru: The Invention of India
Nehru, The Invention of India is a concisely written and readable biography of Jawaharlal Nehru. The author has tried to explain Nehru to his audience in his own way. And this book is a good starting point for beginners.

Nehru, A Contemporary’s Estimate-
Mahatma Gandhi said this about Nehru,
“In bravery, he is not to be surpassed. Who can excel him in the love of country? He is rash and impetuous, say some — and if he has the dash and rashness of a warrior, he also has the prudence of a statesman — he is pure as a crystal, he is truthful beyond suspicion. He is a knight sans peur, sans reproche – the nation is safe in his hands.”
Nehru, A contemporary’s estimate is one of best written books that I’ve come across on him. Within a few hundred pages, the author has not only judiciously unravelled him. But he also shared his achievements, his blunders, and those things that made him the kind of man he was.

Jawaharlal Nehru, A biography by Frank Moraes is a well analysed and written in a very crafty manner book. However, I wanna tell you people one thing for sure that this book is not everyone’s cup of tea. But if you have already read about the Indian freedom movement and especially the contribution of Pandit Nehru in the Indian freedom struggle, then, you can surely go for this book.
This book is heavy in reading vis-a-vis the two books mentioned above. So, take your time and enjoy it while reading it.
